Pies and Coffee is one of the few cafes in Singapore that serves primarily pies, coffees and desserts. As pies is not a usual food that Singaporeans will go for, it is often overlooked as a place for a meal. Located just next to the Star Vista, Pies and Coffee at Rochester Mall is a lovely and quiet hang out. It is one of those few places in Singapore that having an alfresco meal is actually quite a pleasant affair as it is unusually cool with the man made waterfall located next to the cafe. This is definitely place to be if you wish to spend the day relaxing with a book.
As for the pies, it's one of the few cafes offering such a wide selection of pies, there are so many too choose from that you might just grab a couple - from wagyu beef cheek, duck confit pie, lamb shank pie, laksa seafood shepherd's pie, chicken mushroom pie, and more. In my recent trip, I had the duck confit pie, which was mostly pie crust and juicy duck slices. The pie broke apart quite easily and was not filled with mash potato as I would have expected. Instead, slather on mash potato that was served as a side together with salad. My previous dine in, I had the desserts as well and thought the chocolate tart was quite lovely. I have also tried the outlet at Tanjong Katong outlet, and in terms of cafe setting I would still go for the outlet at Rochester Mall.
