Peach Garden Hotel Miramar

There are times I get mightily impressed over a restaurant and the deal they are offering, and Peach Garden at Hotel Miramar is one of them. They offer a 50 percent off a la carte lunch buffet which is a perfect place for a team lunch, or bringing folks to eat a tummy stretching meal of Chinese cuisine.

It was a meal I must say worth its value - being served with soup and mini abalone already set the pace of lunch, together with fresh steam fish, and large drunken prawns. I also enjoyed the fried carrot cake, eggplant with pork floss, and salted egg yolk fish skin. Though not a fan of Chinese food, I must admit that this Chinese buffet is surely worth coming back for, several times...

Mandarin Orchard Triple Three - probably the best buffet on Orchard Road

Mandarin Orchard Triple Three probably has the best buffet in Singapore. I have tried quite a few across town and across the years, and Triple Three remains my favorite, the place with the freshest seafood, and food that is cooked with passion and dedication, despite it being buffet style. The dishes are unique and differently prepared from normal buffet fare, and that's what make the international buffet here special. I was here recently during the Norwegian seafood fare, and boy was the lobster bisque was so flavorful! The sushi and oysters are all prepared before you, in order to maintain the freshness. Here's definitely one place to visit if want to treat yourself to a special meal.

Best Taiwan Porridge Buffet In Singapore

Finally I am back at Goodwood Park for the Taiwan Porridge buffet. It must have been more than 2 years now. Dining with a group of friends who enjoy a full course meal - from starters right to dessert can be a costly affair, hence the best dining option is a buffet when the price is fixed and choices unlimited. It has been a while since I last dined here and it feels like the menu has shrunk somewhat. I still enjoy the food - my favorite is the egg omelette, though fried it still retains its fluffiness. I also enjoyed the crunchy large prawns with dried chilli in Sze Chuan style as well as the small little fried fish that you can eat it as a whole. The Taiwan porridge items can be ordered from a menu and you can request for unlimited times. There is also the option of ordering a single serving of steamed fish, depending on the size of the group dining. The buffet is accompanied by a simple dessert spread with several cakes, ice cream and local kuehs. Nothing too fanciful but sufficient to satisfy the sweet tooth. It would have been perfect if the staff could serve the porridge when the main meal is served without having to wait too long; and if the buffet dinner came together with simple brewed coffee and tea. I suppose we can't ask too much, given that this is probably the cheapest buffet you can find in Singapore in a 5-star hotel right in town.

Goodwood Park Hotel Coffee Lounge luxurious Taiwan Porridge

One of my latest hangouts for meeting up with friends in a central location in Singapore is actually Goodwood Park Hotel. Perhaps Singapore has become a little crowded and any place that is conveniently located, yet serve superb food in a peaceful environment for a good relaxing meal and conversation without blowing the budget gets a thumbs up.

Recently celebrated a friend's birthday at the Coffee Lounge at Goodwood Park Hotel in Singapore. We wanted something different from the usual fare of Western dining or Seafood restaurants. Since the weather has been rather hot, we thought having something like Taiwan Porridge would be light and refreshing. And it turned out to be quite a delightful meal. We had the al lar carte buffet where you basically order anything from the menu plus enjoy the dessert buffet at the same time. It was a pity they didn't serve their renowned Durian pastries for sample at the dessert bar. I am sure even if it was a single dish, it would have required constant replenishing.

You can expect great service from the staff. Food came in piping hot, though there was a little coordination issue like when we went into our desserts, certain orders which we put in for mains didn't come, and no mention was made about it. Not that it was much of an issue as we were pretty stuffed by then. Loved all the dishes there, especially the Sze Chuan Prawns, Steamed Mince Meat with Preserved Egg, and Tofu with Pork Floss.

Bar and Billard Room, Raffles Hotel lovely English buffet

One of my favorite buffet places must be Raffles Bar and Billard Room, apart from Mandarin Oriental - Melt. Why? Decor, food, service all meets the mark. Although I must say the food selection is not as fantastic as that at The Line, but each dish is cooked and prepared with great care and thought. The buffet food selection also changes, which is very good, especially if you intend to come often. Very much English focused type of food - had my first taste of meat loaf here. I always find town to be bustling with people and noise, but coming to a place like this, kinda slows down your pace and for a moment, be brought back to the colonial times.

The dessert bar - I love the fact that you can pick out chocolates from the clear container, and as much as you so desire!Delicious chocolate tart! The high windows prevent people from peeping inside, yet gives customers in the restaurant a good view of what's outside. Even the rest room is so pretty!
