Prive Cafe waterfront dining among the rich and famous

I lost count of the number of times I have been to Prive Cafe. Be it brunch, dinner, or tea, this place has such a gorgeous view, to me it must rank as one of the romantic spots to bring your date for a meal.

Located at Keppel Bay, Prive Cafe it is a good 20 minute walk from Vivocity. So choose your time to travel there if on foot. You will not be disappointed with the view with luxurious boats dotting the harbor. Prive Cafe serves up western food, fairly decent, substantial fare. I particularly like their Truffle Fries, and personally I think it's one of the better ones in Singapore (apart from Au Chocolat). They have a wide selection of desserts, and to me I though it was pretty good, on the sweet side. However, the chocolate connoisseurs in my midst were not too impressed with the chocolate used in the chocolate tarts.

What I like is after a meal at Prive Cafe, we can actually take a leisurely stroll around the Keppel Bay area, it is really pretty especially in the night. As it offers both air-con and alfresco dining, be sure to make reservations to be assured of a seat.

Binomio Spanish restaurant at Craig Road

It was a special birthday treat and I felt so pampered by my girlfriends. I have been wanting to try Binomio at Craig Road, a Spanish restaurant that came highly recommended. It was one of the finer restaurants that looked so romantic you don't really want to enter if you are not on a date. The price itself was also a set back. However, a special day called for a special meal.

We had dinner at Binomio on a week day night, so it was really quiet and we had all the attention from the staff. We ordered the Spanish Omelette from the bar (which was a tapas item and not served in the dine in menu). It was superb, though a little moist. The waiter was quite surprised I have been desiring this dish, as he said it was simple to make. Perhaps it just brought back a good memory of my time in Barcelona.

The next starter we had was the fried calamari. Again, superbly done with just the right amount of crispy, salty, pepper taste. The highlight of the evening was the seafood paella. It came at such a steep price ($66) that I almost didn't want to order the dish. But how could one come to a Spanish restaurant and not order this? It was delicious right to the last bite, an even more so when the waiter served it up for us with such relish.

Indeed you could hardly find fault with Binomio, perhaps only the price. I liked the ambiance so much as it is romantic, quiet, and peaceful, a perfect place for a date, or a night of peaceful conversation with your girlfriends.
