Chicken rice is perhaps in the top 5 list of "must eat" local food to be tried in Singapore. They come in two forms - either white or roasted. To me the perception of white is "healthier" as you can literally remove the layer of fatty skin. That is if you can stand seeing your chicken come to you looking pale - otherwise a better option would be to try the roasted ones. My favourite chicken rice stall is Chin Chin Chicken Rice located at Purvis Street, a couple of streets away from Raffles Hotel. The chicken is tender and juicy, and rice fragrant and moist. Best of all would be the chicken rice chill, black sauce and ginger to top everything off. The stall also serves dishes which are reasonably priced. It rare to find kopitiam stores these days that's centrally located with quick and attentive service that can compete with some of the best restaurants in Singapore.
