The surprising lack of Israeli food in Singapore is almost shocking given that the nation is filled with foodies. Before the arrival of Pita and Olives located at 100AM, Tanjong Pagar, one would have to settle for Sofra Turkish Food located at Shaw Towers. Pita and Olives is probably the closest you can get to the real stuff at decent prices from $15.
Pita and Olives sits around 20 persons, a tiny outfit, cafe style. It is not the prettiest of places, but it does serve freshly made pita bread, hummus, fresh mixed Israeli salad, which makes you feel like you have been transported back to Israel. When I was there with my friends on a Friday night, we literally ordered the entire menu!
For the mains we tried the chicken with rice, I never tasted a better rice dish as it tasted a little like paella with a tomato base. The grilled beef patty was not too bad, and went well with the pita bread. I will definitely come back here again, with the convenience of Pita and Olives located in 100AM, and when I am longing for freshly made hummus.
