The Island Cafe located at Tangs Orchard is probably one of the best known secrets in Singapore. Perched on the 4 floor it's hidden in amidst a metrosexual fashion floor artistically laid out that will probably lend you some interior decoration ideas. Once you step into the Island Cafe, you will be charmed by the cozy resort style setting and friendly, cheerful staff.
Be wowed by a selection of favourite Asian fare like Indonesian Fried Rice, Penang Fried Kway Teow, Nasi Briyani, Chendol and more. This is one favourite place to rest your aching feet after some serious shopping in Orchard Road. Even though with all the new eating places sprouting nearby, the Island Cafe still maintains it's old world charm and warm hospitality.
On previous occasions my favourite dish would be the Penang Fried Kway Teow which they did really well before the influx of Malaysian food fare. This time I tried the Indonesian Fried Rice consisting of sambal rice with chicken, fried egg and satay. Not overly salty, you could actually taste and appreciate the spices used. It ends off rather oily but if you wash down with dessert or a juice it would be quite a perfect end to a lazy afternoon lunch.
