In the search of trying someplace new instead of going back to the same old haunts, we decided with tea at Mezza9, Grand Hyatt. My friends wanted to treat me and so I got too choose. Since most of the girls were watching their waistlines, I opted for high tea set instead of the usual high tea buffet. It is indeed a common Saturday afternoon activity to have high tea to savor the best delicacies a hotel buffet could offer, while relaxing and catching up with friends. Nowhere in the world have I seen buffets being taken seriously by hoteliers and locals alike.
The wonderful experience about going to tea at Mezza9 is the subdue and relaxed environment. Unlike the hustle of people attempting to get as much food as they can off the buffet chains, this was a quiet sit down affair where food was almost too slowly being prepared for us. The high tea set consisted of a free flow of drink of your choice and 2 courses to be shared with 2 persons. It was a food fusion - a riotous sensory experience! The first was the cold savories - ham wrapped in long biscuits, Thai salad, goose liver pate, Vietnamese rolls, smoked salmon on toast bread, and sushi. I didn't really fancy the ham used or the goose liver pate. The presentation and the freshness of the ingredients is definitely worth a mention. The second and final course is the desserts. It was definitely a winner with both hot and cold, sweet and sour being served all at once. The sweets consisted of raspberry sorbet, pistachio ice cream, molten chocolate cake, lime tart and banana filo parcel. Both the sorbet and molten cake were definite winners.
