I was at TungLok Teahouse Far East Square recently for a friend's one month baby celebration on a Sunday afternoon, it was a sit down 10 course meal serving up Tim Sum for tea. Previous occasions to the same location was when it was under different owners. This is location at Far East Square would require a good brand name to stay, otherwise one would need to pump in marketing dollars due to it's relatively isolated location.Yet, it is a perfect venue for small parties with all the space in the restaurant, private rooms available, and open space outside for a little bit of mixing around.
TungLok is one of the most well known Chinese Restaurant brands in Singapore that you will expect good quality food across its chains, and of fairly reasonable restaurant price. The concept for TungLok Teahouse is to bring back the old teahouse ambiance in the oldies.
Since we had 10 person seating the Tim Sum came plated in large plates, kind of destroying the quaint feel of little plates and little Tim Sum bites. Food was good, and the Tim Sum I liked best was the baked BBQ pork (charsiew) buns. The soup that came with the set menu was so superbly boiled that I had several bowls of it!
