It's been a while since I ate at Watami, a modern, casual Japanese dining located at the Star Vista Singapore.
This restaurant seems to cater to the younger crowds with its huge selection of Japanese foods to select from at fairly decent prices. Naturally, one should not expect the kind of fresh sashimi found at more traditional Japanese restaurants.
This time I got to sample the set meal for 2 at $59. This included 2 main meals - a beef rice bowl, and a Korean army hotpot containing of bacon, hotdog, korean rice cakes and instant noodles. It also came with sides that included salad, salmon sashimi, fried scallops, French fries, and drinks. We topped up a coupe of dollars to include mini desserts. Overall quality was average, catering to give a hearty meal rather than fine dining.
Though comparing between Watami and MOF, MOF seems to do better in the food quality and presentation. Watami wins with an attentive customer service despite the crowds. I also like the fact that they bothered with topping up the hot pot with soup. Certainly a plus for a soup hungry fan like myself. I might just come back to this place again, though probably just concentrating on having a hot pot meal.
